The RePickle Project was formed to foster the growth of pickleball recycling in North America. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the US, which means it is also a rapidly growing source of plastic waste going into landfills. We look forward to the day when recycling pickleballs is part of every player's routine and products made from recycled pickleballs are available for purchase - fully closing the loop.
We have collected and recycled thousands of balls! We've coordinated lab testing, worked with several commercial recyclers and they have made products to prove the recyclability of pickleballs. We are now working with several national companies who will pilot logistical solutions to scale up collection and hauling to recyclers. There is much work to be done but we are well on our way!
